How do I apply to a university in the UK?

You have 2 options — either through UCAS, or direct entry with your chosen university.

UCAS

The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, or UCAS, provides a central source of information and advice about higher education, and processes applications for full-time undergraduate courses at UK universities and colleges.

On www.ucas.com you can research your options, search for courses, make your application, and track its progress! You may need to include an estimate of your expected grades — speak to a guidance counsellor for more information if you need a hand.

Tip: Remember, the personal statement is only 500 words.

Direct Entry

At Ulster, we've made direct entry super simple for you. To find undergraduate and post-graduate courses, just visit our online application portal.

What you'll need:

• Transcripts/degree certificates. To avoid any stress, locate these early and keep them in a safe place. (We understand you may not have these at the start of your application; these can be submitted later.)
• Personal statement. Include why you chose the course, how your interests and achievements so far relate to your chosen course, and why you would like to study at Ulster University.
• Academic reference. This will need to be from an instructor, professor or guidance counsellor, and printed on official letterhead.

TIP: The personal statement gives you the opportunity to 'sell' yourself — this is a vital part of your application!
